Livingston gives you a few ways to spend a day in Polk County. Come for a market, take a little time with the town's history, or make room for the lake. A downtown outing and a park visit can each fill an afternoon on their own.

What's happening

See Livingston events on East Texan, then check the organizer for the latest details. Our town coverage is still growing, and the city's Trade Days and Special Events calendar and Polk County Chamber calendar are useful companions. The Chamber covers the wider county, so look at the venue address before choosing a place to meet.

The Livingston events page brings together Main Street shopping events, Trade Days, and seasonal gatherings. Use the year's listed dates when planning. An event that returns every year can still change its weekend or location.

A little time in town

The Polk County Memorial Museum is at 514 West Mill Street. It collects and shares the county's history, and its visitor page lists free admission and guided tours by appointment. Check directly for current opening days, especially if a museum stop is the reason for your trip.

Around the corner, Heritage Park at 507 West Church Street has Locomotive No. 5, the Jonas Davis Log Cabin, and a picnic area. The park and museum share a fence line, making them a useful pair for a history outing. Bring lunch if you'd like to linger outside.

Livingston Trade Days takes place at Pedigo Park. Start with the city's current calendar for market weekends, and give the vendor booths time in your plans. The Main Street visitor pages offer more places to explore around the district.

Make room for the lake

Lake Livingston State Park offers hiking, fishing, boating, camping, and picnic spots. Its entrance is at 300 Park Road 65; use the park's directions for this stop rather than a general town pin. Texas Parks and Wildlife recommends reserving day-use entry because the park can reach capacity. Read its current alerts before leaving home.

The park's ranger calendar is another place to look for an outing. Choose a dated program and check its meeting place and registration details.

These resources were checked October 3, 2026. There's room here for neighbors to add the practical tips and local traditions that make a visit feel like more than a list of stops.
