A downtown stroll, a little local history, and time under the trees make a good day in Mount Pleasant. Come with one thing you want to do, then leave room for a meal and an extra stop. A college show or a lake visit can stretch that day into an overnight trip.

What's happening

Start with Mount Pleasant events on East Texan. We're still building coverage here, so keep the Mount Pleasant–Titus County Chamber calendar handy too. It publishes community gatherings and chamber events, including listings elsewhere in the region. Check the venue address on the individual event before setting out.

The city community calendar is another useful link for public meetings and city activities. For programs with children or a quieter afternoon, start with the Public Library, which links its own calendar. If a performance is the reason for your visit, check the Whatley Center's current season and ticket page directly.

A few places to start

  • Downtown and Main Street: the city's Main Street page introduces the historic district and its local merchants, coffee stops, and restaurants. Browse the blocks at your own pace, then choose a place to sit down. The page also carries Market on the Square information; use a dated announcement when planning around a market.
  • Public Library and Historical Museum: at 601 N. Madison Street, across from City Hall, the library is a useful indoor stop. Its local history resources include family history materials and digitized newspapers. The museum has its own visiting schedule, so check that as well as the library hours if history is what brings you here.
  • Caldwell Park or Dellwood Park: the city parks guide helps you choose. Caldwell, at W. 2nd Street and Van Buren Avenue, has benches, shade trees, and a short perimeter walk downtown. Dellwood, at 726 E. Ferguson Avenue, offers walking trails, a playground, picnic tables, and sports facilities. Pick a simple park stop that fits your group.
  • Whatley Center, on the nearby college campus: the performing arts center presents touring music, Theatre Northeast productions, and art exhibits at Northeast Texas Community College. The college's venue listing places it at 2886 FM 1735. This is a separate drive from downtown; choose the show first and use the venue's ticket links for the details.
  • Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, outside town: the state park combines wooded trails with lakeside picnicking, fishing, paddling, and camping. Its park map, reservations, and alerts are useful starting points. Allow time for the drive and choose a trail or water activity before you go.

Plan a visit

Visit Mount Pleasant brings the visitor links together. Its dining directory and lodging page link chamber members' businesses, giving you somewhere to start when arranging a meal or an overnight stay. Check the business's own page before making firm plans.
